02What Vivink keeps in your browser
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your notesBrowser database | Your notes, boards, slides and files, so they’re there every time you open Vivink. | Until you delete them |
| Your settingsLocal storage | Your pens, paper, toolbar, theme and recording choices, how you like Past sessions shown, and where you left each note and slideshow. | Until you change or clear them |
| Home’s numbersLocal storage | The days you made or changed notes, for “Days in a row”; how many notes of your own you have; and the last greeting shown, so the next one is different. | Until you clear them (writing days: about the last 400) |
| Notes shared with youBrowser database and local storage | A copy of the notes someone invited you to, with their folders and sync records, kept apart from your own notes; and whose notes are shared with you, with any invites waiting, so they show even offline. | While you have access to them |
| An invite you openedSession storage | The code from an invite’s link, so the invite stays open in that tab while you sign up or log in. | Until you answer it or close the tab |
| Where this tab isSession storage | Whether the tab is on Home or in your notes, whose notes it is in (your own, or someone’s shared with you), and a step or a message waiting for it, so a reload stays where you were. | Until you close the tab |
| A session you joinedLocal storage, a student’s phone | For each session link: a random id for that phone, the name and answers typed there, and a key for the session password (not the password itself), so a reload doesn’t ask again. | Until you clear your browser’s site data |
| The board a TV showsLocal storage, a class TV | So a class TV goes straight back to its board after a reload. | Until that board stops showing |
| This tab’s idSession storage | A random name for the tab, so the server doesn’t tell it about changes it made itself, and so after a reload it keeps sending your voice or a website you show. | Until you close the tab |
| Offline copy of the appBrowser cache | So Vivink opens quickly, and even without internet. | Until a new version replaces it |
| Today’s exchange rateLocal storage, website | To show prices in your currency without fetching the rate again. | One day |
| Your sign-inCookie | Keeps you logged in to your account. | Until you log out |
| Meta Pixel (_fbp)Cookie, website pages · set for Meta | Measures visits and plan choices that come from our ads on Facebook and Instagram. | 90 days |
03Other companies
Some services we use may set their own cookies, under their own policies:
- Meta Pixel — on our home, features and offer pages, and on the sign-up and log-in pages. It tells Meta (Facebook and Instagram) that a page was visited or that a plan was chosen, so we can measure our ads and show them to people likely to want Vivink. Meta receives your IP address, your browser and the page you’re on, sets a cookie (_fbp), and may connect this to a Meta account under Meta’s privacy policy. Your notes are never sent. You can control the ads you see in your Meta ad settings, or block third-party cookies in your browser.
- Razorpay — on its checkout, when you pay, to process the payment and prevent fraud. See Razorpay’s privacy policy.
- Google — on Google’s own sign-in page, only if you choose “Continue with Google”. See Google’s cookie policy.
Google Fonts, which the website uses for its type, doesn’t set cookies.
04Clearing it
You can clear cookies and site data in your browser’s settings at any time. Careful: clearing Vivink’s site data also deletes the notes saved on that device. Sync them or make a backup first. Notes someone shares with you come back from the server, as long as you still have access. On a student’s phone, it also forgets the name and answers given for a session, so its link asks again.
